About The Artwork

A remote seashore, pristine in the dazzling midday light. This original fine-art tapestry was hand-woven on a vertical loom in 2018. The material is 100% cotton in the warp and 100% wool in the weft, imported from spinneries in Europe. The tapestry is fully lined and fitted with a hidden hanging bar for easy installation and is shipped in a custom-made wooden create. I use watercolor to explore the thoughts, feelings and emotions which constantly feed my subconscious urge to create. My small-scale watercolor is traced and enlarged to the final dimensions of the finished tapestry; this enlarged image is used as a map to guide the transposition into a hand-woven work. The palette consists of multiple shades and thicknesses of high-quality tapestry wool and by blending several threads, I can render the subtle changes in the tones and intensities of the watercolor design. The final woven image is the culmination of many months of joyful weaving.
