One of a series of paintings worked outside, with an acrylic under-painting, worked on top with oils. The subject was a flat meadow on the top of a hill with 360 degree views across the valley below. At certain points in its making the sky filled with huge clouds, almost close enough to reach out and touch. Paint is used expressively, with impasto and glazed sections. Lines are redrawn back into the wet paint to define edges and to re-animate the dynamic surface.
