ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This is the fourth in a series of five paintings from a project called Remote Britain, traveling around the remote places of the UK. Of all the places I visited, Northumberland made the biggest impression on me and so this piece is dedicated to it. Northumbria was inspired by the unique light in this region of Britain and I’ve tried to capture the striking colour pallet of the land, sea and sky. I was fascinated by how the light bounces off the the water making you feel like you are in a glass prism. I used a pallet knife and brushes to create the rough edges if the rocks.
