About The Artwork

This Landscape was a scene that I was born to and grew up in. The combination of the double fronted ferry and the Hapuka fish also hark back to my childhood when my grandfather was an engineer on the double fronted ferry that traveled the inner habour of Auckland, New Zealand and the fish is my favorite eating fish (also named Grouper in some parts of the world). So this represents Nostalgia in a big way as I live in a completely different part of the world. I still dream of the scene...

I was born in Devonport, New Zealand and grew up in Auckland, New Zealand. Now we live in Santa Ana, Costa Rica with my wife, Artist Natalia Wallwork. My influences are from Ancient and Tribal Art, particularly Mayan Art but I'm also influenced by the great Surrealist artist, Salvador Dali. The underlying concept of my art though is the importance of our connection with the natural world, therefore a lot of my subject matter are the Birds, Animals and Fish of our planet. I sign my artworks 'Hilton', my middle name after my great grandmother, Hanna Hilton.
