About The Artwork
I love the diversity seen among humans and I like to paint a variety of ethnicities. It makes for an enriching experience. My aim was to use super bright colours to depict the edgy coolness of my subject. I see painting as an opportunity to experiment with colour and form, while exploring the beauty of the human figure. My paint application can be described as controlled chaos. I work in layers using impasto and wet in wet techniques to create wonderful and unexpected results.

Hi, I'm Esther, a studio painter from Trinidad, in the Caribbean. Oil painting is my passion. I enjoy exploring the visual language of colour and form. I am drawn to earth's landforms and geomorphology; this inspires my expressive mark making and unconventional application of media, in order to obtain unpredictable and exciting results. My paintings are usually portraits where hyper realism is juxtaposed against the abstract. The colours are vibrant and expressive; I build up layer upon layer, with rich results.
