About The Artwork
Hello, thanks a lot for your interest ! As a young man in my twenties, I once did a pilgrimage to Lourdes in France, and then after deciding heading back, walking, to my family’s mansion next to Pau some few days away, I got lost in the Pyrenees mountains. During the course of this journey, at the end of a clear moon night, I found a church to sleep there, and had a feeling of bliss at the time I saw it, and this is, the subject of this painting. This story is very close from the one featured in a recent French movie with Juliette Binoche, about a difficult quest for love, between two young folks, that start in the same mountains. I hope that this painting could please you ! I appreciate it’s contrasted tones and vivid, yet pastel chromatics. The figure of the young man, as you will have understood, represents me, getting close to the church.
