ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Pop art painting of the 1930's Odeon cinema, Chester. Painted using deep turquoise "Palm springs" house paint, crimson red and dark brown acrylic paint on canvas. I also used white spray paint to achieve the shimmering neon light effect on the cinema awning. This is part of a series of paintings I have recently created depicting cinemas, diners and gas stations at night.

My paintings depict Americana and I immerse myself and the viewer into the exotic world of Hollywood stars, Swimming pools, diners, Cinemas, Gas stations and Burlesque dancers. I often take several black and white images and alter and transform them by adding lurid colours and shadows so creating a dynamic new image. Incorporating the flat colours of comics, vintage packaging and movie posters I ensure that my pictures are vibrant and cinematic, using acrylic, household and spray paint. My paintings are of varying sizes.
