About The Artwork
This Australian Seascape Oil Painting was inspired by the currently fashionable "Naive Landscape" style of contemporary painting. I love the Australian eastern coastline which was reason for painting this unique beach art. The Naive Landscape style of painting is quite a change from my usual technique of Photorealism - which is more traditional and elaborate Naive's simple and childlike design employing bright pastel colours made it a joy for me to paint this seascape artwork. This contemporary style of painting a seascape moves away from the more complicated traditional styles allowing the viewer to simply enjoy this modern artwork. The Tacking Point Lighthouse, which is the focal point of this painting was simple in design and portrayal, again another example of the Naive style of art. This painting's bright pastel colours and simple timber frame will indeed liven up the chosen location for the fortunate buyer. I chose to use oil paints as they ensure brightness in colour and crispness in texture.

I was born in Coventry, England and migrated with my family to Australia when I was 8 years old. I graduated from Southern Cross University completing Social Science and Counselling Post Graduate Degrees. This was my chosen career till retirement a short while ago. This decision to retire gave me the opportunity to follow my lifelong passion of being able to create. I have decided to paint Australian Landscape and Seascape in oil paints on stretched canvas. I also enjoy the simplicity of watercolor painting in abstract and landscape techniques. I have completed an online art course under Dan Scott and take advantage over any other study I can afford. I thrive of learning and believe that the journey of an artist is indeed a life long one.
