ABOUT THE ARTWORK
I wanted to convey summer holidays in this painting and the feeling of total relaxation when lying on a lilo in the middle of a swimming pool. The inclusion of the shadow of the lilo at the bottom of the pool emphasises the feeling of floating on the water. The model on the lilo caused lots of ripples in the water which made very interesting patterns and hopefully the viewer will get this sense of movement in the water. I used oils for this to allow me to blend the shades of blue in the pool and chose very saturated colours to suggest summer when colour seems to be much more intense.

I was born in Folkestone and now live and work in London. I am a self-taught artist and have been drawing since I can remember. When I was eight or nine my parents took me to a Saturday morning art club. They bought me my first easel a few years later and i have been drawing and painting ever since. I work in a range of media including charcoal, pencil, oils, acrylic and watercolour. I have a passion for water and the human form.
