This is a series of paintings that considers the interplay between layers of colour,  painstakingly applied with a brush. This work stems from Alexey’s interest in the relationships between simple shapes, volumes painted in a limited range of colors.  He tends to create a response to his past in the present environment, like a visual diary of circumstances, and inspiration for these objects comes from Russian Suprematism.

I am Los Angeles-based artist. Experimentation and the process of trial and error drive me to create what I call “functional art.” I draw on 10+ years in the civil engineering, architecture, CG 3D, and Environmental design worlds. I am particularly inspired by the Russian Suprematism and Constructivism Art Movements By blending these artistic and architectural philosophies, I explore the relationships between simple shapes and volumes. I use mediums of wood, cast concrete shapes, plaster, resins, and mirrors painted in a limited range of colors to create his sculptural pieces
