ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This piece is part of a body of work about my brain surgery and recovery. In 2014 I had brain surgery to remove a tumor pressing on my optic nerve. Over the past 6 years I have looked at many scans of my brain, specifically the optic chiasm. This series explores ideas of repair, reconstruction, and memory. I use the language of abstraction, playing with eye shapes and space. I create disruption through a series of marks, shapes, lines, and color.
