About The Artwork
This is an original authentic Sumi-E painting. Sumi-E painting is a Japanese traditional painting using Sumi ink and Gansai paints on traditional papers. The subject is a white plum tree. Plum 梅 is one of the plant of 松竹梅, Shoh-Chiku-Bai, the three good luck plants, pine tree, bamboo, and plum. The artist created the painting with Sumi-E technique on a handmade Xuan paper with freshly made Sumi ink and Gansai paint, and finished with Urauchi technique which is a wet paper stretching technique. This painting is a beautiful piece with some Sumi ink flow lines on the background of the Plum plant.
