About The Artwork

This is a multi canvas composition comprised of nine 15"x 15" gallery wrapped canvases over panel. Edges are finished in black so no need to frame. With spacing this work measures more accurately at 51" x 51". This suite of paintings is titled, Ornament of Grammar. Symbols, patterns and colors are pulled from ancient folk traditions to street art and arranged to read with a simultaneity that implies code or language. Each canvas is worked with round after round of color. I let small traces of each iteration read thru in hopes that the work gives good soul. I will be uploading detail images soon. This particular body of work with selected by Art News contributing writer, Jason Hoelscher, to hang at the Betty Foy Sanders Department of Art at GSU this spring. Other works from this series have hung at the Elmhurst Museum, The St. Louis University Museum of Art and the Evansville Museum of Art History and Science.
