ABOUT THE ARTWORK
With all the wars and strife in Africa, I was struck by the plight of woman in these war ravaged country. This painting symbolize women from both sides of a conflict considering the future of their children. I thought I had finished this picture in 2001 but after 9\11 I was inspired to add two faint shimmering columns representing the twin towers.

The world has suffered through many tragedies wars, 9-11 and more all at the hand of man. Also, natural disasters to further cause anguish, floods, earthquakes, and fires. Like everyone, I have been saddened and horrified at each. occurrence.As an artist, I wanted to express my thoughts on these tragedies. I decided not to paint death, destruction and human anguish but a hope for the future. To paint the wonderful simple things that have occurred and will occur again and again in the future because of our desire for peace and for our wonderful, brave fighting men and women who pledge their lives to help countries fighting for a better life. With recognizable shapes and drawing on past and present experiences. I paint people enjoying simple pleasures within their environment.
