Out of the Blue Painting

I am always inspired by color. I have always been attracted to the most colorful artworks, pictures and nature is so colorful as well. Colors just make me feel good. I use fluid acrylics and pour them in this way for the interactions between the pigments on my canvas. I use fluorescent colors because they change and light up under a black light. This surprises a lot of people. It is just like the saying: Never trust first impressions. Often, the painting will have a complete different look under black light! In this particular painting, I was inspired by the round shape of the canvas and it made me think about our blue planet. I wanted a watery look so I took different shades of blue and added white ink for details. I also wanted some contrast to make the painting visually appealing. I picked a complementary color contrast to keep it colorful and went with fluorescent orange. I usually like to name my painting after the colors in it, it leaves room to the imagination of the viewers!
