Oysters 4 Painting

"Oysters 4" evokes the idea of rows of small oysters using a calming palette of light blue and pearl white juxtaposed between touches of dark sea foam green and denim blue. A background of titanium white exposes the nuance of the hand mixed color palette. Pink powdered pigment, texture and water were used to create depth and a sense of light and dimension. There are whispers of iridescence, giving the impression of pearl, that sit atop matte acrylics offering interest without being overwhelming. This work is part of a series which embodies the coastal areas from which I draw my inspiration. It is finished with gloss, brightening all the colors to a watery and beautiful finish. This series evokes a sense of joy and calm.
