About The Artwork

This is a wonderful breakfast my brother-in-law prepared for me on a visit to England. Pain au Chocolat, berries and "posh coffee" as he calls it, from his new machine. I find painting still life, especially food which we experience with so many senses (touch, sight, taste, smell...) time consuming and challenging but the end result is so worthwhile. I am a lover of food and the simple pleasures of life so I keep coming back to this simple yet alluring subject.

Hi! I'm a painter working in oil, acrylic, watercolor, and drawing media. I have a Masters of Fine Arts in painting and drawing from Texas Tech University and ADORE being an art instructor both in-person and online. My work has been exhibited in group and solo shows in Colorado, New Mexico, North Carolina, California, Texas, Canada, and the UK. I taught as resource faculty in Fine Art at Eastern New Mexico University and currently teach drawing at Texas Tech University. I teach week-long workshops for teens and adults through Idyllwild Arts Academy, and teach online workshops and classes as well. I was a participant in the prestigious Land Arts of the American West program with Texas Tech University’s School of Architecture, exhibited in Texas A&M University-Corpus Cristi’s Oso Bay Biennial on “Reexamining Representational Painting,” and was an active member of the Plein Air Painters of New Mexico for many years. I was admitted as one of 50 painters into their 10-day Plein Air Festival. I illustrated the textbook, “Biology: An Invertebrate Perspective” by Dr. Ken Cradock and attended the Alliance for the Arts in Research Universities 2017 Emerging Creatives Summit in Gainesville, Florida.
