On my way through the fields one day from the train station in Bussum to the Singermuseum in Laren, Holland, I saw this flowering heather, this intense purple, the characteristic growth of the branches.
I thought it worth of a large painting, I love large paintings, but because the entrance to my studio is not build on large paintings, I had to split it in three, and therefore the result is this triptych.
In fact my whole studio is too small for large canvasses, as you can see on the photographs, but I am too much attached to this quarter where I live, which the finest quarter of Amsterdam, full of pubs, restaurants, terraces, young people and all important museums nearby. Originally a workers quarter, it's now a place for wealthy students, (or at least, children of well to do parents), who do not need such spacious accommodations yet.
If you happen to be in Amsterdam, please do not hesitate to pay me a visit and see my work, the pleasure will be fully mine, for painting is very nice but also very solitary occupation.

Oil painting on three canvas panels. The painting is shipped in a wooden crate, ready to hang, and because the sides are also painted, a frame is not really needed.
