Pareidolia 1 Painting

I created this painting about one year ago after being inspired by the work of Jackson Pollock. A uniqueness to this style which I found entrancing was the ability of the viewer to perceive the motions of the artist through the twisting roads of color due to the instrument never meeting the canvas, the reason why this style is referred to as action painting. I found that I could spend hours following each little path, often seeing shapes, or more often faces, similar to the way children see animals in the clouds. For this reason I have named the work Pareidolia 1, the word meaning to see distinct shapes or images in otherwise seemingly meaningless patterns. I want the viewer to be able to observe the painting over a course of time, finding new images and meaning which only that individual viewer can perceive. I have spent a year finding meaning in its labyrinth and am looking forward to someone else experiencing it as I have.
