I think everything that I have seen and experienced influences my art. I just let it happen, trusting my instincts each step of the way. I want my art to have a prolong effects, what I mean is more you look more you connect or see new meanings--kind of like chewing gum that doesn't lose flavor.

Hiroshi Ariyama is a native of Japan who spent his formative years in Honolulu, HI, and has been in Chicago for most of his adult life. Here he presents his works that are a result of his unique experiences as a lifelong visual artist. As a multifaceted visual artist, Hiroshi Ariyama’s practice often drifts in and out of reality, flowing into an active subconscious state of automaticity when he paints. While the choices he makes for creating each painting can be attributed to his cultural background and diverse life experiences, many of these paintings are an attempt to reflect his true inner voice and aesthetic tendencies.
