Parts of a Whole Painting

The paintings have become a visual diary of the challenges we face coping in our daily lives. Allowing me to explore a fundamental human experience of distorted thoughts. The paintings transcend my experiences while I employ visual language of combining techniques of realism and abstract. Exhibiting both a factual and a vulnerable outlook. The geometric shapes indicate the chaos that occurs in ones life that is uncontrollable. The realistic aspect to the painting indicates the ability to own ones own behavior even if the environment is uncontrollable. Gilding on the specific objects symbolizes the untethered soul. Allowing one to be free from limitations and boundaries. By observing the psychological restrictions placed on us by ourselves and others I am able to depict the battle between validating and invalidating environments. No longer blinded by unconstructive thoughts these paintings enlighten oneself to break negative coping habits. Through these observations one can beginning to recognize ones true self.
