ABOUT THE ARTWORK

This painting is part of a diptych and it’s about all the parts that make us. Different, controversial parts that work together, fight one another, embrace each other, walking us through life. The layers forming the painting are like a visual language, in some areas loud and clear and in others just a whisper, like an entry in a journal. I relate to them as I can see myself in the whole painting and I would hope the viewer can attach their own meaning to them. Painted on wooden cradled panel, 30.5 x 30.5 cm. Titled and signed on reverse. Finished with a UV protective satin varnish. Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. It comes with a handmade white float frame (34 x 34 x 3.5cm) The other part of the diptych is “Parts of me I”

I’m a London based abstract painter who works primarily in acrylic and mixed media painting. My work is all about textures, layers, forms and marks. I take an immense interest in the process of creating my paintings. By exploring perspectives, patterns, textures, organic forms and colours around me, through sketching and photography, I create a layered tapestry of abstract shapes, bold marks and subtle lines where paper and textiles collage play a significant part. I work intuitively, having a vague intention in mind, which evolves as the painting starts to make suggestions. My paintings have their very own history that is recited over time, layer by layer. My painting process is my way to release a part of myself. It’s an internal dialogue and an urge to speak the unspoken. It’s about communicating what we cannot conceive, yet, somehow, we can feel and remember.
