I am an artist from Costa Rica, Central America. I graduated University of Costa Rica, Fine Arts. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Osvaldo Sequeira (b.1969, Costa Rica) is one of new emerging painters in Costa Rica. Since I saw the work of Osvaldo Sequeira for the first time, back in the 90's, where he showed a series of woodcut print work at the coffee shop of Costa Rica National Theatre, I glimpsed a restless artist for the human figure and its expressiveness, mourning figures and sharp strokes in a dense environment of permanent distress, showed a young artist hungry to work the human figure and unmask mysteries and passions. Years later, I found out that that search remained latent, to fit in his other profession, graphic design and digital animation. Fortunately I see that this search was resumed in 2015 and it comes with such strength as the years it was contained. He shows us part of his current work with the series entitled Kinematics, in which expressionist treating of human figure and color are the outstanding issue. We can say that his work as a digital animator is present in its plastic work, as the leitmotif of this series is the kinetic movement and as he himself defines it "this is an essay about movement of human figure in a given time." This work determines, to my way of seeing things, the rebirth of an artist who was dormant for 16 years and brings us today this work full of expressive force as letting loose a dam that has been contained. “Kinematics” does not have a better name to show us a restless artist full of strength and movement. Umberto Castagneda - art critic.
