About The Artwork
'Pilgrim of the Heart' has lived in my memory for a long time, but is only now expressed on canvas. It is a portrait of a travel memory I have from the time I traveled around India a few years back. By 'The holy Ganga' where the atmosphere, the smell and the air is thick and intense. The sweet smell of corpses that were burned on bonfires on the banks of the river. Hindus praying and worshiping the gods. Hope and hopelessness in a great mix. With a sweet cup of chai in a little skewed cup, I sat every morning on the banks of the Ganges and watched what happened. It put a spark in my heart and a tear in my eye and woke my own inner Pilgrim ... For in the heart, we are all 'pilgrims' - seeking and moving on in life with the soul as a compass on our inner and outer journey ...
