Original abstract acrylic painting on canvas. Usually, she works directly on the canvas but for that series, she drew sketches on paper as an outline for the characters.
Those characters depict a fantasy world. They are called "Tourlis-people" because she wanted to focus on the original "Tourlicoulis" and continue the adventure.
The “Tourlicoulis” have grown and morphed, no longer content to hide. Hideous and hilarious, slim and rotund, set in their occupation, their enchanted and bold assertion of identity, in bright colors scream that life is colorful, anything but banal or “black and white”.

About The Artwork

This painting is a dance of spheres, A whimsical rendition of Ping-Pong. This artwork holds deep resonance for me, grounded in my passion for the sport of ping-pong. At a glance, the protagonist in a blue dress might seem out of place in a table tennis setting, but this choice imbues the piece with whimsy and a touch of the surreal. The juxtaposition of the head and ping-pong balls, both equal-sized, speaks volumes. This deliberate artistic choice invokes a sense of balance and equivalence between the player and the game. It's as if the mind, symbolized by the head, and the sport, represented by the balls, have merged into one. It portrays the intrinsic dance between the player's strategy, finesse, and the unpredictable nature of each match. The blue dress, though a humorous addition, might be seen as a flowing representation of rhythm and movement, much like the ebbs and flows of a dance. In this context, ping-pong isn't just a game; it's an intricate dance of strategy and agility.

"Creation is infinite. It revolves around my emotions like gentle waves of light." I am a French American artist living in Chicago. Previously trained in law, I discovered a profound passion for the arts after relocating from Paris to Chicago. Driven by curiosity, I enrolled in graphic art classes to delve into the depths of visual expression. As I immersed myself in the art world, my passion for creativity blossomed and ignited a spark within me. Although graphic art helped me realize my love for visual art, I found its limitations too restrictive and yearned for complete artistic freedom. The graphic art resembled a swimming pool, while the ocean represented the limitless expanse of creative expression I craved. I desired the autonomy to explore, escape the familiar, and freely express my emotions and visions of a different world. I wanted to go deep beyond what I learned; I wanted to feel. So, I started to bring some doodling to life. I began to paint them big and to give them an identity. Some motifs, such as small heads, large hands, silhouettes, flowers, birds, dots, strange creatures, and other unidentified shapes, naturally appeared. But this is when I dived into the marvelous world of colors that my art took another turn. I felt a sense of completion when I could combine the fluid lines with the bold shapes and the expressive power of colors. Wassily Kandinsky reminded us that color and conditions can resonate directly with the soul. While I don't seek out set themes, my art naturally embodies generosity, love, humor, music, fantasy, passion, and spirit. My paintings showcase powerful emotions, vibrant colors, and thoughtful expressions of human complexity. These themes seem ingrained in my creative process. My work reflects my inner world and my unique perspective on life. My paintings' presence of generosity, love, and humor suggests a deep appreciation for the human spirit and its capacity for joy and connection. My vivid colors add a sense of liveliness and energy to my work. My artistic approach celebrates life and the richness of the human experience. Through my art, I share my unique world vision and create a space for others to contemplate, feel, and connect with the essence of my creative expression. My paintings are not merely images but gateways to emotions and contemplations that resonate with the hearts of those who behold them.
