The Pink Sunset #1 is inspired by a beautiful sunset over Sembawang part of Singapore during a boat ride through Northern waters of Singapore. It was a lockdown time when people were not allowed to travel out of Singapore, so I took this opportunity to explore the most remote corners of the country. Taking a boat in Singapore waters was as far as one could get off the island. Just when the trip was ending, we could witness an extremely beautiful sunset just over the shore which became a little reminder to me to always appreciate little joys in your life despite all the external circumstances. The main focus at Pink Sunset #1 is on the sea - I wanted to emphasize the unique rhythm and energy of the waves, with each wave telling its own story through its shape, movement, and color. The focus draws attention to the sea's dynamic beauty, showcasing the powerful and sometimes unpredictable forces of nature. I chose oil medium as I really wanted to have bold, expressive strokes that breathe life into the scenery I painted. The artwork was exhibited in a few exhibitions in Singapore, and hanging hardware is included.
