ABOUT THE ARTWORK
PLAYING “KOI” - a play on the term ‘Playing Coy’ and the new flagship piece to my Evolution collection. The piece jests at the often code language of art and the interplay between the decorative and the avantgarde. Nishikigoi, or Koi fish flutter across the canvas - a fish originally produced as a consistent food source in Japan over 200 years ago that later evolved into an ornamental, decorative fish viewed for its beauty as a work of art. It is now both decorative and universally symbolic of peace, love and affection.
