About The Artwork
The painting is inspired by the visual language of leaked emulsions present in some expired Polaroid photos. I hope the viewer becomes interested in the connections being made between photography and painting that I am exploring and can enjoy these interpretations of those effects .The materials Polaroids are made of create images that can only be produced using those materials. This is true in painting as well so I hope the viewer can appreciate the effects these paintings create. I choose to work with oil paint on ply wood as the surface interacts in specific ways with the paint to effect the overall look of the finished piece. There is a randomness inherent in the ply that is not achievable on MDF board.
