About The Artwork
This was one of the first watercolour paintings I made in 2019, based on plein air sketches while out in the woods. I've begun the practice of looking carefully at the landscape while out on walks. When I see something vaguely unsettling in the landscape, I take out my sketchbook and record it. In this case, I saw a small opening in the woods. Through it I saw a pond reflecting the sky and the silhouette of a power pole. It made an interesting focal point for a painting.
