About The Artwork

ORIGINAL Artwork by Lidia Kuneca

The Artwork is part of the highschool final exam of the artist.

Title: Jellyfish Portrait Size, Medium: 100x70cm acrylic on paper Style: expressionism, abstract

Description: This painting is a close-up of a jellyfish. The fragment captures the fragility and transparency of this beautiful sea creature. Even though it's dangerous, it still remains strong, terrific ancient animal. Theres also deep symbolism about it. The painting adopts a contrast of warm colors and cold colors by means of an orange and blue palette. The contrast is created between the jellyfish a symbol of life, in warm colors, and the blue water, its environment. The value of the line is decorative and simple. Brush strokes are fragmented to describe the transparency of jellyfish.

Lidia paints mostly from imagination or memory. Her work describes the inner voice of the subconscious mind, inspired by the beauty of imaginary things, the mystery of nature and social experiences. She has a positive and colorful vision. Lidia especially admires David Hockney, in elements such as his smooth flat and brilliant color. Marc Chagall for his quirky motifs, Olafur Eliasson for sculptures and large-scale installations that enhance the viewer's experience.
