Portrait with Sprigs Painting

Painting imagined portraits combining surrealism, illustration, pop art and abstract expressionism. Inspired by the human condition; music, film, graphic novels, comics, gaming and life in general. Landscapes abstract to impressionist style inspired by the Isle of Wight in England where I live and places I've visited, like The Lake District and The New Forest. I also make pure abstract expressionist paintings and sometimes animals or still life. Love all mediums and materials, from paper and watercolour to oil on canvas, and all in between: charcoal, acrylic, gouache, graphite, pastel, household paints, inks.. I love to experiment and explore with art and keep things fresh and exciting, never stop learning and improving as I go. I follow my inspiration and enjoy the journey. Hope you like the work and find something that inspires you too. The portraits are created from a stream-of-consciousness drawing most often, or a re-working of a smaller sketch. I then gesso this and work directly onto the paper. Or larger on canvas or wood. I also work in any medium, acrylic, watercolour, gouache, etc. I'm inspired by the human condition, relationship with nature, surrealism, juxtaposition, otherworldliness, mystery and beauty. The landscapes are inspired by photos I take on the Isle of Wight, Lake District and New Forest. I'm really inspired by trees, woodland and striking light and dark or unusual compositions.
