Purple Coneflower Painting

In my latest series of works, I focus on the juxtaposition between the interior and exterior worlds as well as the specific area where my private territory meets the outside world. This body of work incorporates themes of life, continuity, and hope through depictions of plants, flowers and windows. Just as light provides vital energy that a plant requires to grow, so too does outside light provide essential energy for the subjects and settings depicted in my works. Certainly, this time during the pandemic has forced us to stay mostly indoors; thus, the window provides a sense of hope — looking outwards to a better future — as well as light, providing us the energy to continue moving forward.
