------------------------------------------------------------------------- Joëlle Delhovren paints scenes from everyday's life, an imagery inspired by family pictures, by albums or documents published or produced by strangers and that drew her attention for a reason or another. Whether only an excuse to paint or a questioning from the subconscious, those images result from a vague feeling that arises when facing a real experience or a past memory. Delhovre inevitably features people with nostalgic traits and makes up a context in order to materialize the scenery. Delhovren aims at maintaining the focus, at keeping the memory alive. She tries to create a spacetime that could potentially bring back to life a moment extracted from a succession of actions that inevitably reminds us that time elapses and dies. Her objective is to bring time to stand still, to bring the unspeakable to life.
