About The Artwork
Ongoing series where the content of the photographs has become secondary to the esthetics created by the process. This piece was created in the winter of 2015, in the basement studio/home in Aarhus, Denmark A laser printer was used to print the mirrored image, before it was transferred to the fabric using different kinds of acrylic and oil paint. The photograph was taken Upstate New York, in the middle of the forest. Photo specs:Canon 5D Mark II, EF 24-105mm set to 67mm, f.4, 30 seconds exposure, iso 640, Date12-10-14 Time 02:02:52 This particular piece hangs 8 cm off the wall. Hanging hardware is included. With moderate effort the work can be taken off the hanging hardware, if a different/flat hanging method is desired. Each works in this series is unique, the original photo might be used in future work, but this will not be a replication.

Dutch Artist (1986) based in Denmark. The work of Cas van der Pas portrays a tension between fact and fiction. His Photographs start as objective realities, but trough various ways of manipulation they open up for deeper interpretation. The manipulation of the Photograph and the space around it are both used as physical properties to engage the audience into the work. Movement from objective reality to emotional experience is central. The focus of his work has always been about the search for an absolute truth that can not be found. This is equally true for his films, photo's and paintings. Having worked all around the world Cas has created his own database of audio visual material that now serves as his main source of inspiration.
