About The Artwork
This painting is largely inspired by the deep layers of colour and composition of Mark Rothko's large scale abstracts. I aimed to create a warmth within a cold dark space, symbolising hope when everything else is dark. Including time in the title was intended to evoke ideas of the future being brighter than the past. The texture of this work is of great importance to the overall experience of the painting, along with the dark tones of mossy green and burgundy. See detailed images.
