Rainbow Fright Painting

This painting was initially inspired by a trip to the Wynwood area of Miami, where I fell in love with the street art and murals covering this famous design district. Having had a few years' hiatus from painting, this was just the inspiration I needed to regain my once-passionate relationship with fine art. The vibrant sunset-like spectrum of colour directly represents the terrific sunsets enjoyed on Miami's south beach during our stay. The skull (created from a street-art-style stencil) is a nod to some of the more shady sides of downtown Miami and even some of those surrounding the Wynwood area. "With beauty also comes danger". The lines that intermingle here also have a clear meaning and are, in fact, a barcode, suggesting the industrious nature of contemporary art and how the sky, street, and even our greatest fears have all somehow become commodities. This painting has been spray varnished with a satin finish and includes hanging hardware. Since this piece has a white border painted in, a simple, perhaps black frame would work beautifully but not needed. The canvas is lightweight and easy to move around. The piece comes with a certificate of authenticity. 100cm x 100cm
