Painting: Oil, Acrylic, Spray Paint, Ink, Digital on Canvas.
Acrylic, acrylic based medium, archival varnish UV protection, oil, and archival pigment prints (collage) on canvas. The artwork comes ready to hang.
The work expresses a deep engagement with today's forms of image representation. Found in an auction catalogue, this anonymous pictorial material (Andy Warhol’s Liz) is being transformed into the traditional domain of painting once again. Acylics, oil paint, mediums and pigment prints are applied, covering parts of the surface while leaving others empty so that the underlying plane stays visible, creating an impression of depth through overlapping layers. What is the value of adding versus subtracting, revealing versus obscuring? Such subtle shifts—and their ability to change our relationship to an image—are the subject of this artwork.
