About The Artwork

In this piece I decided to try to visually represent some of the ideas I'd been reading about and listening to on podcasts while in the studio. I'm fascinated by the idea of dimensions, the apparent flexibility of time, the fact that our senses only pick up certain portions of the reality in which we live, and the idea that intersecting aspects of reality or dimensions come together to form what we jointly call our experience. I was particularly fascinated by listening to several talks about particle physics and the smallest, most minute part of what make up our world, and how the idea of electrons blinking on and off have been witnessed in experiments, suggesting that they may come in and out of dimensions all the time. This was a fun metaphorical challenge to then visually represent on the canvas by choosing a regular cafe scene, something familiar to all of us, and thinking about all the factors that go into creating this "normality" that we occupy in our day to day lives.

Shipping & Returns

I'm a Twin Cities based visual artist with a studio in the Northeast Minneapolis arts district located in the Casket Arts Building. I create both figurative and abstract works mainly in oil and ink with a focus on strong light and contrasting light effects. I like to create environments in my paintings that tell a story and create a mood or emotion, often eliciting feelings of calm, nostalgia, and wonder.
