Traces from a wall. ...Working with images from the past I search for and sometimes I discover strange pathways that lead to the present. Besides, I have always been interested in and fascinated by that unforeseen game with time but also with place, the play between what was once, what is now and what comes later, between the here and the elsewhere, the inside and the outside, what is and what isn’t.

Lila Papoula was born in Athens, she took courses in painting at St Martin’s School of Art London (1974-1976) and she studied at the School of Fine Arts in Athens (1978-1983). Her work has been the subject of 21 personal exhibitions and she has taken part in numerous group exhibitions in Greece and abroad. Works by Lila Papoula are to be found in the collections of: the Hellenic Parliament, the Embassy of Cyprus,State Museum of Contemporary Art,Thessaloniki , the University of Ioannina, the Panteion University, Vorre΄s Museum, the Society for Epirotic Studies, the Municipal Gallery of Ioannina, the Municipal Gallery of Kalamata, the Municipal Gallery of Rhodes, Christos&Sofia Moschandreou Museum in Mesolongi, and other private and public collections, in Greece and overseas.
