ABOUT THE ARTWORK

* This painting will be in a NYC show through January 31, 2021, feel free to contact me if you are interested in purchasing it. Influenced by political divide and social instability, I have been moved and inspired to illustrate the power plays in society against women and people of color . Troubled by the President's animosity towards black people, I created Reconstructing Lineage to portray a young woman with multi-cultural backgrounds. Through genetic testing and programs like Finding Your Roots, people are discovering the origins of their ancestors, sometimes to include a blending of different nationalities and races. With the increased racial profiling by the police and attacks, restraints resulting in deaths, I seek to portray how we are alike. Peaceful protests have been attended by people of all races, it speaks to a willingness to appreciate and recognize our differences and sameness. The fragility of human connections, understanding our need to stand up as one people is standing up for all. Our country's history has shown how each new immigrant group was discriminated against. Troublesome to many are the current administration's new laws preventing immigrant families from crossing our southern borders.
