This work belongs to a series on the sea. This painting is a vindication of the African emigrants who shipwrecked in the Mediterranean Sea. The work is in red, which is a metaphor for the blood of migrants injured and desperate to survive in the ocean. And the black that represents the darkness, the night and also the abyss and despair. As the work approaches, it shows small human figures that are as if suspended and remain immersed in the depth and darkness of the sea. Thousands of people who die trying to find a better future in Europe. The work is acrylic on canvas.

Vuhed is the artist name of Oscar de Dompablo, who lives and works in the town of Zarzalejo in the northwestern Sierra de Madrid in Spain. Artist Statement A reason appears, for example, the drought we are suffering, and immediately afterwards I see images that I need to shape. I make sketches with markers, pencils, whatever I catch, I do and look for photos until I come up with the idea. Sometimes I am impulsive and I paint without preamble. Then I use drawing, loads of paint, drips, action painting, on canvas and boards, almost always with black, red, white and earth acrylics. I like the expressive and visceral, figurative with dabbling in the abstract to express my opinion of the world I see. I want my portraits, human figures, animals, trees and landscapes to be a cry, mute, not mere decoration... My preferences are many, there are so many beautiful sources that I drink from as many as I can! Sometimes I look for inspiration and other times it comes without warning. I love the reward of hunting it, creating and communicating! Vuhed Óscar De Dompablo (Vuhed) is a landscaper by profession and has a professional gardening company. But he has been dedicating himself to painting for a long time, he began painting comics at a very young age and self-taught and later began to take painting courses and workshops. Later he completed a higher degree in fine arts and design techniques applied to murals at the La Palma school in Madrid.
