Red wall Painting

The main aim of my work is to make semi-abstract paintings about the memory of a place I have visited and emotional experience I have felt there. My work starts from sensing my emotions in response to a particular landscape. I make drawings, record videos and sound, take photographs and write a diary. I try to search my memory of the place where I felt deep emotions and then paint the atmosphere of that place with reference to the documentary materials I have collected. When the landscape I have experienced is transferred to canvas, the shapes and colours are reconfigured, and I draw strongly on the way I feel at that time. Recently, beyond one point of time and one space, the present experiences are injected into memories and captured together. I call it ‘an archive of memories and emotions.’ In other words, the elements of memory such as emotions and objects in the landscape newly influenced by other media (photos or videos) which I saw. The main point is the process of combining the current self influenced by various media in a new space created from the past. Eventually, the space is reconstructed into a "phantom place" that is "my things" but has different emotions from other moments.
