Ricardo Gómez de Cádiz, born in 1958 in Barcelona (Spain) of a Galician father and Andalusian mother, trained at the Massana School in Barcelona. He has always considered himself an art lover, in fact he began to paint comics as a child, then he focused on painting. Among his favorite painters, those of the surrealist stage such as Dalí, Magritte, Erns, among others, stand out. Although he is very influenced by the work of Amadeo Modigliani, of which he has done some other version. Ricardo paints outside of any program. His work emerges with a purity and a force that time only makes it stand out with an ever clearer brilliance. His pictorial work is characterized by the chromatic power of oils and acrylics, highlighting the strength of the brushstroke that transfers the experience transmitted by the author to the viewer. Pictures full of color, strength. Through his painting we can dream of Modigliani, traveling to Africa. Light and life transmitted through his painting. Paint Urban Art. A theme that is usually considered associated especially with social struggle and political protest. However, the protest demonstrations have been replaced by others that do not demand anything, which has set up a debate about the real objectives of the artists who currently intervene in public space, in the case of this artist. Paint Ethnic Art. An art that leaves no one indifferent. An art that preserves very accentuated features, a deep spirituality that surrounds each of Ricardo's paintings. In these works you can see very well brushed outlines, very colorful colors ... Overflowing light and color in his recent work that offers a very material invoice. He lives on the fringes of society, oblivious to certain norms, tendencies, present conventions of these. That is why he does not like to exhibit in galleries, museums, etc. He exhibits virtually, the network being the main way to exhibit his pictorial collection. A collection that includes more than 900 painted specimens throughout his professional career. His creation evolves rooted in figuration (realism) towards a more conceptual formula whose "living" horizons follow their course in time. We end this review with a few words from the artist himself: “I try to explore all styles, it is very exciting not knowing what painting I am going to paint the next day, I like challenges. I am not looking for a critical sense of painting, I think that the viewer should do it ”. Carolina Caramés Posada BA in History.
