My name is Maria Kasakova and I’m an artist from Varna, Bulgaria. I have Specialization in illustration and Master degree in Painting in Accademia Ligustica di Belle Arti of Genoa, Italy. I’ve exhibited my paintings all over Europe and my latest and most ambitious series yet, has shown only in Bulgaria and Italy. Flumental Background At the core of quantum physics is the idea that the forms and sizes of objects in the Universe depend on the viewer’s perception. This idea is very different from the Philosophical Realism of the ancient Greeks who believed that everything in the Universe exists in and of itself, independent of human consciousness. The theory of quantum physics seems closer to the one of Idealism where it’s believed that reality is a form of the human mind. It can take on a variety of different forms because both consciousness and matter consist of pure energy. The strange floating creatures in my paintings represent energy vessels of information from the invisible world in which we’re submerged. These “Fluctuations” can take on different, unusual shapes that can also remind of creatures from the sea depths or the microcosmos. They are everywhere around us. They react to us and change based on our thoughts and moods. They float in a different substance with lighted spaces on the background, in city landscapes, some of which are more homogeneous and others more dynamic. The sharp protruding elements come from the material world. They pierce the “fluctuations,” creating visual and compositional dynamic. The technique I use in this new paintings is acrylic on canvas and acrylic paste. Prof. Vladimir Ivanov: Maria combines both the exoteric and esoteric beginnings in her compositions. She chooses to interpret the complexity of the world around us using digital photography as a background, on top of which stand out sinusoidal floating forms that, as a rule, end up in intriguing textured plastic on top of the canvas. As if the viewer is invited to take on a relay which will take them to ANOTHER UNIVERSE, the one of Quantum Physics or that of wild fiction. As much as the digital image is fluid and digitally pixilated, that much the waves of the exoteric are carefully built and perfectly mastered without losing their universal status of “Mobilis in Mobili” (or “moving amidst mobility”) – here Jules Verne’s words seem a prefect fit.
