About The Artwork

Acrylic, enamel, ink, collage, aluminium on paper 165 X 165 cms. (25 units of 33 X 33 cms.) The use of shelters made in times of war and recovered for cultural and exhibition purposes in times of peace, reopens the gap of collective memory. Individual protection in voluntary or forced confinement in the hope of survival from enemy attacks, unleashes the awareness of vulnerability. In terms of mood, our refuge is each one of us, the space we inhabit in our body, that of fragilised introspection that opens the doors to obsessions, paranoia, schizophrenia... oscillating between exhaustion, glory and pain.

Painter, engraver. Born in Seville, Spain and living in France. With exhibitions in different countries and collections. For 25 years I have dedicated myself to artistic publishing in lithography, intaglio, silkscreen, artistic direction of events, assistance to artists and training. When I was four years old I decided to devote myself to art. I made a nude that my family censored, I wanted to understand why the movement of an arm or a leg deformed the reading and representation in the drawing, the interest and curiosity were born at that moment. I am interested in many aspects of the history of art : the evolution of representation and the theoretical focus of interest in each period, from prehistory to the different notions of beauty and its negation, the artist's responsibility in the multiple choice of the work, iconography, expression or instinct, method and improvisation... aware of their theoretical foundations, often meta-artistic, guided by the reigning philosophy of each period and above all science and technology. In this respect I am particularly interested in scientific advances, the contemplation of nature as a source of inspiration. I draw on the minimal unit of life, the interactions of micro-biology, the unity of habitat, reproduction, the mother.... My work identifies with practically all artistic forms, which I try to internalise. The techniques I use come from painting, printing, calligraphy, photography, and in my painting there is almost always an indirect component (graphics, monotype). "Between graphic, kinetic, optical, surrealist, figurative, symbolist, committed art... sometimes one, sometimes the other, sometimes all at the same time: the plasticity of character: tolerance, I try to practice it with intransigence".
