Grit and Whimsy Graffiti on canvas. I work to create my abstract of "grit" and "whimsy" in each of my paintings. I stop once I feel the combination is right and the feeling I want to convey is achieved. I invite you to please visit my Instagram: where you can view more images of this particular piece and find more available works. Thank you so much.

Jennifer Ashley was born in the Washington,DC area and later moved to Portland,OR. where she spent most of her life. There she earned a Bachelor of science degree and developed a strong interest in art. Currently, Jennifer and her husband live on a ranch in rural Missouri where they are dedicated to their mission of caring for rescue dogs and horses. Jennifer's art work ( or creations) are strongly influenced by her experiences with animals and the two cities where she lived. Jennifer is an INFJ (Introvert Intuitive Feeling Judging), the rarest of the Myers-Briggs Personality types, making her especially sensitive to the world. Jennifer is a rapidly emerging artist. Her works have been featured online across the globe including Spain, Norway, Sweden, China and Japan to name a few. Notably, she was recently selected as Abstracts on Fire's Artist of the week and has been featured on curated platforms such as Mag Contemporary art, The Abstract District, The Curators and The Visions Project. Her work ranges from bold, complex abstracts, to minimalist animal renditions. Her works display a common theme of "Town and Country." She has received notoriety for her skillful composition, decisive stopping points, and fearless approach. She hopes to make the viewer feel a broad range of emotions when experiencing her work. As a child, Jennifer began riding lessons and developed skills, which she uses today at home, with her own horses. She was active in hunter/jumper and has been an equestrian since. Jennifer has spent her adult life rescuing animals (dogs and horses primarily) who were previously discarded and abused. She's trained, rehabilitated and re-homed horses she saved from slaughter. Tragically, equine slaughter for horse meat, is an active industry where she lives. Jennifer has always been an animal lover and wishes to keep inspiring others to do whatever they can, in their own ways to be an advocate for animals too. Through her artwork, you will see another theme if you look. It is her abstract of "grit" and "whimsy" in each piece. Not only is she influenced by the cities she’s lived in, ("urban"/"town" and "graffiti") and her love for music, but by the rural, country scenes she's become accustomed to. One of which includes whimsical animals and on the other end of the spectrum, the stock yards or "feed lots" in Oklahoma. This is where horses are discarded before sent to slaughter.
