ABOUT THE ARTWORK
During the aftermath of the London Riots in 2011 the urban landscape of Brixton was significantly altered. Various shop fronts were boarded up or their treated glass facades were a riot of floral cracks formed by multiple impact breaks. As these cracks spiralled out across the metallic coating of the reflective glass capturing, deconstructing and reflecting back a utopian urban street. Very much like the aftermath of a natural disaster this urban ecosystem had been laid barren with the reflection becoming a new ecology. A new normal.
