About The Artwork

these pieces are a significant part of my artistic work, recognizable easily, to the point that they allow the public to recognize my signature. They represent a strong symbolism, which the current societal context further strengthens. It is a perception of money in a different light than the one we are giving it today. These Roman pieces are those that people have thrown over the centuries into the depths of a sacred spring or fountain. These are wishes, associated with deep feelings: the hope of a cure, to find a loved one, a wish for happiness for his children. Money then loses its negative connotation to find a more human meaning. It is a sacrificial ritual: a gift of effort and toil for the fulfillment of wishes related to noble human feelings. This money no longer evokes the accumulation of wealth, greed, avarice, and ultimately indifference to the fate of others, but the exact opposite. The ancient character of these objects refers to fundamentals that have been flouted and forgotten by the modern world, but which are indefectibly anchored in the depths of the human. These values are strong because they are eternal, and they are resolutely contemporary because they will reborn irreparably, since the current brutal, prosaic and indifferent world is today in deadlock. From an artistic point of view, these pieces refer to the poetry of a past splendor, hidden by centuries, but today finally revealed. The contrasting patinated precious metal highlights the preciousness of the vision offered. Beyond the nobility of these ancient objects, their accumulation evokes a treasure, but transposed to the scale of positive feelings. The real treasure is the revelation of what is good in us. I worked a lot on this theme, because the Roman pieces have a real strength of aesthetic and chromatic enhancement. The backgrounds can be infinite: from pure colors, which can be reworked to produce tone-on-tone effects, to patterns that refer to contemporary art, visual effects are powerful and luxurious. This is the reason that led me to engage in this search: luxury, but with elegance, strength of color, but with poetry. The nobility of the antique returns in a discreet way but very present to the tradition and the timelessness of the elegance of the heart.
