Room Womb Tomb Painting

A few months after my mother died, I went to an underground spa (a birthday gift from a friend). As I walked down the stairs into a dark room with brightly lit pools, I felt disoriented and overwhelmed. The space around me felt sacred, and oppressive, and comforting, and ancient. The room was both womb-like and tomb-like. I felt my mother's presence in the water. - Painted with handmade watercolors on heavyweight cold pressed Arches paper.
