About The Artwork

Naval Painter Göknil Gümüş Sungurtekin was inspired by the "sailors pulling a rope" in the impressions he got from the 2005 Old Salt Naval Exercise. Göknil Gümüş Sungurtekin, in 2004, organized by the Naval Forces Command''8. He was awarded the 1st prize in the Traditional Sea Painting Competition. She won the "Marine Painter Award". He received the title of "Sea Painter" from the Commander of the Naval Forces Özden Örnek. 2006-2004 Göknil Gümüş Sungurtekin participated in the Naval Forces Command Military Naval Operation, "Old Salt" in 2005 and made art works at the invitation of Naval Forces Commander Yener Karahanoğlu and Naval Forces Commander Metin Ataç. Göknil Gümüş Sungurtekin, who was awarded the title of Marine Painter and Honorary Major, became the "First Turkish Female Marine Painter". Naval Painter's Works are constantly exhibited in the saloon, museum and archives of the Naval Forces Command. Göknil Gümüş Sungurtekin won the Sea Artist Award in the DKK competition in 2005. She won the first prize and the special title of “Navy Painter” in the 8th Traditional “Marine” Navy Painting Competition she attended. She maintained this title for two years and exhibited her paintings in 2006 at the Naval Forces Command and the Harbiye Military Museum. She made 30 paintings for this project as a Marine Painter for the Naval Forces Command between 2004-2007. All works produced by Naval Forces artist Göknil Gümüş Sungurtekin are permanently exhibited at the Naval Forces Command, museums and archives.
